Kelly Porter
Kelly Rae is a classical soprano based in Melbourne, Australia.
Kelly’s first performance this year was in the chorus of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Melbourne Opera, and she is now preparing for her first main role as the understudy for Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with BK Opera.
Other recent highlights include singing with Rosie Roulette in their album launch for Moon Phases; co-producing and singing in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Queer, a concert to raise money for Switchboard Victoria; and co-producing and performing in A Knight at the Movies, a concert showcasing vocal music from films and video games performed alongside harp and lute for the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2022.
Whilst living in Melbourne, Kelly has performed with BK Opera in its productions of Mozart’s Abduction (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and the Glück double bill Orphée et Euridice / Iphigénie en Tauride, and was also the stage manager for Dirty. Sexy. Opera. at the Butterfly Club.
After graduating from her classical voice studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2015, Kelly spent a year living in Florence, Italy, studying voice with Halina Moretti-Pananti and learning Italian at the Scuola Leonardo da Vinci.
In addition to classical singing, Kelly regularly trains in dramatic combat, and her long-term goal is to combine the two fields together in future projects.
