Daniel Sinfield
Daniel is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in opera and musical theatre having worked on nearly 150 different productions. In his early career he was an opera singer singing with professional opera choruses including but not limited to Opera Australia, Victorian Opera and West Australian Opera. Originally hailing from Western Australia, Daniel completed degrees from the West Australian academy of performing arts, The University of Western Australia, before coming to Melbourne to complete post graduate studies with the Opera Studio Melbourne and Melbourne University.
Later in his career Daniel sang as principle artist performing roles including but not limited to; Brighella in R. Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, Remendado in Carmen, Don Basilio and Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Giuseppe, Gastone and Alfredo Cover in La Traviata, Toquemada from Ravels L’heure Espagnole and Gherrardo in Puccini’s Gianni Schicci, Alfredo Die Fledermaus, Mr Splinters in Copelands Tenderland and Schmidt in Massenet’s Werther.
As a director Daniel has worked or assisted on productions of Coronation of Poppea and Our Man in Havana with Lyric Opera of Melbourne and John Doyle’s production of Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Australia.
Daniel is also book writer for Shanon Whitelocks musical Fearless having directed the 2017 workshop production, which is a musical about the father-son relationship and recovering from trauma. Academically Daniel is focussed on aspects of music dramaturgy; musical semiotics and the translation for the director and performer, and embodied practice techniques and the relationship with vocal technique.
