Alison McIntosh

A graduate of both the Melbourne Conservatorium (Music Honours) and Monash University (Music and Commerce), Alison has performed solo and chamber music recitals and musical theatre and opera roles in Australia and Italy. In 2015 she co-founded Ensemble Goldentree, a chamber music ensemble performing a range of repertoire from Baroque to 21st Century, with a focus on performing rare works that feature horn and voice.

Alison has performed in a diverse range of mediums, including opera, theatre, chamber music and dance. As a founding member and co-artistic director of Ensemble Goldentree she performed in all of the ensemble’s concerts to date. In August 2015 Alison made her operetta debut as Rita in Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria’s The Contrabandista/Cavalleria Rusticana double-bill and reprised the role in a November repeat season (“sang well and looked lovely”, Stagewhispers). She performed the role of Fiametta with the same company for The Gondoliers in 2016 in addition to joining the production team as Assistant Choreographer.

Alison began singing with the Melbourne Opera Chorus in 2016, performing in their productions of Wagner's Tannhauser and Donzetti's Anna Bolena. With wide ranging musical tastes Alison derives great enjoyment from performing works by living composers. She has worked on a number of occasions with composers from Monash University in realising their new compositions as well as commissioning new works for Ensemble Goldentree. A dancer for over two decades, Alison teaches classical ballet and contemporary classes whilst actively dancing herself.
